All settings can be found in your MyFreeola account once you have signed up.
Alternatively, you could also add your VoIP phone service to your mobile phone using the Verticall VoIP app, available to download for free from the Android or iPhone app store.

Frequently Asked Questions
Voice over IP (VoIP) is the modern digital alternative to a traditional landline. Calls are set up via a SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) proxy, then transmitted via your internet connection. It has all of the same benefits as a landline, can be used with a normal home telephone handset, and can make and receive calls in much the same way. However, as all of this is carried out over the internet, there is no need for a separate land line, with voice data transmitted faster and clearer over the fibre network.
Yes, you can. You can specify an address as the primary contact address, which will be the address seen by emergency services when you make a call. You can also change or update this address if you move.
House phones connected to your VoIP service will rely on an internet connection, so a power cut would prevent you from making or receiving calls with them. You should, however, still be able to make and receive calls on your mobile phone if you have the app installed. This would use data over your mobile network rather than your internet service.
Traditional phone services over the copper network are coming to an end by late 2025, so everyone will need to switch to digital services soon, but there is no need to wait to gain the benefits. If you have an internet connection, then VoIP services offer cheaper calls, no fixed line costs, options to receive and make calls via your mobile phone, crystal clear voice transmission and many other features that are simply not possible over a copper line.
VoIP can be set up in several ways. If you already have a VoIP enabled router, then you simply need three pieces of information (URL, User name, password) to add the service. For other users, we can supply a preconfigured ATA adapter for a one-off charge. Just plug it in to your router, connect your house phone and you're done. VoIP-ready phone handsets are also available, and can be configured in the same way.
Alternatively, you can add the mobile app to your mobile phone, connect using the provided user name and password, and make and receive your calls via your mobile.
The vast majority of standard house phones or cordless multi-handset phone systems - sometimes referred to as DECT phones - will work perfectly well when plugged into a VoIP adapter (ATA). Put simply, if your existing system works by having the main base unit plugged into a single BT phone socket, then it will most likely work when plugged into a suitable ATA adapter. This is also by far the easiest and most cost-effective way of getting set up.
Alternatives include VoIP-enabled DECT base-stations, routers or phones, all of which can be configured to work with your service using the settings provided, however it's worth checking carefully for compatibility of all components before investing in any new equipment.
Note that having phones plugged into different BT extension sockets will no longer work, as the copper telephone wiring and sockets in your premises no longer play any part in the phone connection.
Freeola Voice and Voice Pro will work over any internet connection, so even if your internet is provided by a third party, you can still benefit from a Freeola Voice service. Setup is the same, and you'll still be able to use all of the features.
During the sign-up process, you'll be asked if you wish to port your number. As this is still largely a manual process, we will require some information and authorisation from yourself in order to place the request. Some of the information you may not know, and you'll need to get it from your current line rental or service provider.
You can still complete your order for Freeola Voice or Voice Pro, and a temporary number will be assigned. Once you have all of the information, you should be able to complete the number port forms, at which point we can continue submitting the request.
Completion can take a week or two, but in the meantime you should be able to use your Home VoIP service with the temporary number provided by us. Our Number Porting option is a one-off payment of just £19.20 that can be added to your order, or alternatively you can select from a wide range of available geographical and non-geographical number options.
500 minutes of calls to fixed UK lines includes calls to 01,02 and 03 numbers
500 minutes of calls to UK mobiles includes calls to all main UK mobile networks (e.g. O2, EE, Vodafone, 3) as well as smaller providers who use their networks.
You can use Freeola Voice as much as you want. We do have protections in place however, that will help prevent unexpected bills by monitoring for unusual call patterns or abnormally high usage.
Freeola Voice Pro includes 500 minutes to UK landlines, and 500 minutes to UK mobiles, which will be used before any pay-as-you-go minutes.
You can make calls to pretty much anywhere in the world, at the rates shown on our call charges page. Please note that international calls are NOT deducted from any call bundles included with your service, all calls will be charged per-minute at the prices shown.
Yes, you can. The last caller function works in exactly the same way as a traditional house phone, just by dialling 1471 from your handset.
If you are porting your phone number, don't cancel your landline, as it should cancel automatically once the port has completed.
If, however, you are using fibre to the cabinet (FTTC) or ADSL broadband, both of those require a live landline service to operate. As landlines are ending by 2025, services that require them will also end, so you may want to consider upgrading to a data-only service now. A number port can be requested at the same time, so you can still keep your phone number if you wish. You can check broadband availability and upgrade to a new digital service, and you may even find the overall costs are less.
Yes you can, the settings required are available within your MyFreeola account once you sign up.
