More about our broadband packages & deals
Freeola Broadband packages offer cheap internet access with high speed - you can expect speeds of up to 76Mbps (with a theoretical maximum of up to 80Mbps and average peak-time speeds of 63Mbps) on our Part-Fibre broadband deals, or maybe you are lucky enough to be in an area that has our blisteringly fast Ultrafast Full-Fibre Broadband available to you - fibre optic broadband with speeds up to 900Mbps (theoretical maximum 1000Mbps and average peak-time speeds of 900Mbps).
The speed of your connection (bandwidth) is based on a few things, such as the quality of your line and the distance from your fibre cabinet or local exchange and possible contention in the network. Unlike some other providers, we'll tell you exactly what speed your connection is expected to be before you even sign-up.
Superfast broadband is now available across large parts of the UK, which means they will support up to 80Mbps connection speed. Ultrafast FTTP coverage is growing, with several million premises expected to be covered by 2023. Why not try our broadband speed and availability checker to see how fast your connection can go?
If you're concerned about your broadband speed, read our advice on how to fix slow broadband.
Superfast Broadband uses Part-Fibre, or Fibre to the Cabinet (FTTC) technology which, depending on the length of the line from the premises to the cabinet, will provide a download speed of up to 80Mbps and an upload speed of up to 20Mbps.Your copper line is used to supply the service from a nearby cabinet, which is then linked back to the exchange using fibre optic cables.
Ultrafast Broadband is Full Fibre, and can be provided using fibre optic technology all the way to the premises (no need for a copper telephone line). This is often referred to as Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) or Fibre To The Home (FTTH). Our Ultrafast FTTP broadband packages can support download speeds of up to 900Mbps (often referred to as a gigabit connection) with an upload speed of 100Mbps.
Fibre to the premises (FTTP) is broadband technology that can provide very fast broadband speeds. It is the future of broadband connectivity. Instead of copper wire providing a broadband service to your home or business, an FTTP connection uses fibre optic cable to connect you to the broadband network, meaning you can enjoy download speeds up to 900Mbps. Unlike with a standard ADSL or FTTC connection, an FTTP connection does not require a telephone line (you will no longer need to pay line rental), and your distance from the exchange or cabinet is no longer a factor in the maximum speed your line can support.
Check availability using our FTTP checker.
Nearly 6 million premises have the ability to connect using Freeola FTTP (Fibre to the premises) and Openreach expect this to increase to 26 million premises by December 2026. New areas are being upgraded all the time, so if you're not able to get FTTP now, keep using our FTTP Rollout checker so you know when you can place your order!
An FTTP migration is completely straight-forward, and is essentially the same as migrating an ADSL or FTTC connection. Simply run the FTTP checker and pick the FTTP package that best suits your needs. Once you've placed your order, it'll typically take 10 working days for your migration to complete. Your current provider will automatically be notified that you are leaving them, no need for you to inform them.
If you have more than one FTTP service active at your premises, our migration process will allow you to choose which port on which ONT (Optical Network Termination) you want to migrate.
If you have any questions about any of our Ultrafast broadband deals, please send us a message or get in touch via live chat and we'll do our best to help.
SoGEA is an Openreach acronym for Single order Generic Ethernet Access. It is basically the same type of connection as FTTC (Part-Fibre or Fibre To The Cabinet) but without a voice service. The ability to make analog calls using a phone plugged into the telephone socket has been removed. The broadband and copper line are provided together as one service. No telephone number is assigned to the line but if the ability to make and receive calls is required then a VoIP service (Voice over Internet Protocol - sometimes referred to as Digital Voice or Internet Telephony) can be used with the connection.
The speeds available for SoGEA broadband are the same as those available for Superfast FTTC broadband - up to 80Mbps depending on the length of the copper line from the broadband cabinet.
Check SoGEA availability on your line.
SoGEA broadband is cheaper than Superfast FTTC broadband, which requires a seperate line rental service. The requirement to have a traditional line rental service to enable superfast broadband has been removed. Savings are typically £4 or more per month.
SoGEA connections are future-proofed. Landlines are being phased out by 2025, meaning traditional telephone line service will no longer be available. Instead a data connection like SoGEA will be needed with a digital telephone service added on top.
A simpler order and management process - SoGEA broadband requires one order instead of a line rental order together with a broadband order. If there are any problems with the service or changes required then you only need to contact Freeola.
Freeola Unlimited Broadband gives you unlimited downloads for hassle-free internet access. Without data limits, you can surf the web, watch online videos and stream online music to your heart's content - no more having to keep your eye on your data usage or unexpected excess data charges.
If you're curious about your data usage, we'll give you full details of how much data you are using via the MyFreeola Control Panel (where you can control all your internet, billing and contact details; set up your free unlimited e-mail and website and a whole lot more).
Use of Freeola Unlimited Broadband is subject to our standard Terms and Conditions and a fair use policy applies (designed to protect the quality service for all users from any abusive or exceptional usage).
