While this guide was written using the model TD-W9960 as a base, these instructions should still be correct for other models of the hardware, albeit with some slight wording and visual differences.
In order to configure your router you will need to be connected to it either wirelessly or via an Ethernet cable (a wired connection is recommended). Once connected, open your chosen internet browser (Firefox, Edge, Chrome, Safari etc.).
In the address bar of your web browser enter the default IP address of the router, http://192.168.1.1.
If you are unsure of where the address bar is on your software, the keyboard shortcut of Ctrl+L is widely used to highlight this field. When logging into the router for the first time you will be prompted to create a new Administrator Password. Once you have created your Password click Let's Get Started to begin the Setup Wizard.
You will first be prompted to select your Region and Timezone. While this will have no impact on the operation of your connection, setting this correctly is still recommended.
The next page will prompt you to Select ISP, from this list select Other then click Next.
The following page will prompt you to provide your Connection Information.

Network Name (SSID) - Enter the desired name for your Wireless Network.
Password - Enter your desired 'WiFi' password.
The router will now run a quick Connection Test, to ensure that the Connection Information you entered earlier is correct.
If this fails, use the option to Go Back and check your Connection Information.
If this passes, click Next.
The final page gives a Summary of your Connection and Wireless Settings. To finish, click Finish.
If you would like to reconfigure the router fully again at any point, the Quick Setup option within the Top Menu will start this process again.
