Welcome to the Freeola Internet customer support pages. This guide is designed to help with amending the Outgoing (or SMTP) Server on Apple Mac Mail. For more internet help topics please visit our main Support Page.
On occasion, it may be necessary to change, or add to, the SMTP Server details within your Apple Mail email client - typically after a large software update or migration from another device.
This guide was written using version 11.5 of the Mac Mail client on the High Sierra OS. While these steps should work for other versions of the software, there may be some slight visual and wording differences.
To change these settings, firstly open the Mail app on your Mac.
Once open, choose Mail from the Top Menu then Preferences.
From the new window that opens, click Your Email Address from the left-hand menu, then Server Settings.
You should now be shown the server settings for the account selected. To view or change the Outgoing Server details, select the SMTP Server/Account drop down menu then choose Edit SMTP Server List.
Now select your SMTP Server from the list provided, this will open the Server Settings window.
From this page, you can view and edit the Outgoing Server settings:
Description - A description of the server. By default this will be your email address, but anything can be used here.
Username - This should be your Full Email Address, and is NOT an optional field.
Password - This should be your Email Password and is, again, NOT an optional field.
Host Name - smtp.freeolamail.net.
Once you have made your changes, click OK to save.
