Creating a Spreadsheet for your RQS Shop Products

The RQS Online Shop feature allows you to Import products in bulk to your Shop via a Spreadsheet/CSV file. If you have a large number of items within your Shop you may find it easier to add your Products using this method.

Below is an overview of how to format the different fields when managing your shop using a CSV.

To create your initial CSV it is recommended to add a few products to your shop via the Add Products screen, then export a CSV. This will provide a good template for adding your remaining products.

Unique Reference

A unique reference number for your product.

Please Note: References that start with '001' may be imported as '1' in software such as Microsoft Excel, unless your columns are properly formatted.

Text Type: Any character

Text Length: 3 - 20

Example(s): '12345', 'ABCDEF', 'ABC-123'

Product Name

The name of your product.

Text Type: Any character

Text Length: 1 - 100

Example(s): 'MyProduct', 'My Product', 'My-Product'

Variations

Enter variations where you have similar products with the same price.

Separate variations with a comma.

Leave Blank if your product does not have any variations.

Text Type: Alphanumeric, spaces & hyphens

Text Length: 0 - 200

Example(s): 'Red', '8-10', 'Extra Large'

Category

The category that this product belongs to.

Text Type: Alphanumeric, spaces, hyphens

Text Length: 3 - 45

Example(s): 'MyCategory', 'My Category', 'My-Category'

Subcategory

The subcategory that this product belongs to.

Leave Blank if you do not want you product to belong to a subcategory.

Description

A description of your product.

Leave Blank if you do not want to add a description.

Text Type: Any character

Text Length: 0 - 10,000

Price

The total price for this product.

IMPORTANT - Do not use currency symbols in this field.

Text Type: Decimal number

Text Length: 1 - 11

Max Buy Quantity

Enter the maximum amount of this product that can be purchased in one transaction between 1 and 100.

Leave empty or as 0 if you do not want to impose a limit.

Text Type: Numerical only

Text Length: 1 - 3

Status

If the product is active or inactive. When inactive a product does not appear on the front end of your shop. This is useful if you would like to add products to your shop but not immediately make them live.

Images (1 - 7)

The name or names of the images you have uploaded to your media archive that you would like to use as product images.

Up to nine images can be used. One per field.

Leave Blank if you do not want to add images to your product at this time. Images can be added later.

File names for images you have previously uploaded can be found on the Media Library page underneath an image thumbnail.

Text Type: Alphanumeric

Text Length: 0 - 500

Sorting Priority

Products given sorting priority will be displayed at the top of Category Pages.

It is recommended that you give sorting priority to your best selling products.

Is New

Whether this product should be shown as being new on your shop pages.

Setting a product as new will help draw your customer's attention to it.
