Welcome to the Freeola Internet customer support pages. This page is offered as a basic setup guide to the Multi-Factor Authentication (2FA) options available on Freeola services. For more internet help topics please visit our main Support Page.
Two Factor Authentication (sometimes called 2FA or Multi Factor Authentication) adds another layer of protection to an account or service by requiring a second security check (in addition to a standard password) before granting access.
This secondary process involves entering a randomly generated code from a Security App on your mobile phone, or through the use of a previously assigned code.
This guide will provide details on how to enable, and disable, this feature for the Freeola services listed below:
The MyFreeola Control Panel offers two different methods of Multifactor Authentication. You can choose to enable, and use, any or all of these on your account.
Using an Authenticator App
One of the quickest, and most trusted, methods of Two Factor Authentication is through the use of an Authenticator App. While there are plenty of apps available, we recommend using the Google Authenticator App from the Google Play Store or iOS App Store.
Once you have downloaded your chosen app, log into your MyFreeola Control Panel, select My Account Details from the left-hand menu, then Contact & Login Details.
The following page will display your MyFreeola Login Details. To turn on 2FA on your account, click Enable in the 2-Step Verification row.
If you have already enabled a different 2FA method on your account, this option will instead read Change.Next, expand the Authenticator App section then click Set-up Authenticator. A pop-up window will now open offering you a QR Code.
Use your App to scan the code (+ symbol in Google Authenticator) then click Next.
If you are unable to scan, you can use the code provided on the pop-up to manually add the service. When prompted, enter the six-digit code your App provides you. If entered correctly, you will be taken back to the 2-Step Verification page in MyFreeola with your Authenticator App now showing as active and verified.
For assistance with logging in using this new method, please see the How to Login section of this guide.
Using a One-Time Code
This option is only available if you have already enabled Two-Factor Authentication via the Authenticator App.
If you would like to add a backup login function should you require access to your MyFreeola account without access to your mobile phone, you can use a One Time Use code as a secondary authentication method.
To generate these codes, log into your MyFreeola Control Panel, select My Account Details from the left-hand menu, then Contact & Login Details.
The following page will display your MyFreeola Login Details. Select Change from the 2-Step Verification row.
From the 2-Step Verification page that appears, navigate to the Add more second steps section and click the Right Arrow (>) next to Backup codes.
You will then be shown the Backup Codes page. To generate your One-Time Codes, click the Get Backup Codes button on this page. Your codes will now be generated and listed clearly on this page. Once you have used a code, it will be struck through and cannot be used again.
These codes are generated 10 at a time, but more can be generated as needed by clicking Refresh on this page. The Print option will allow you to print these codes for safe keeping.
For assistance with logging in using this new method, please see the How to Login section of this guide.
Logging in Using Two Factor Authentication
With 2FA enabled on your account you will be prompted to provide one of your verified options (Authenticator App Code or Backup Code) when logging into MyFreeola.
After entering your MyFreeola Username and Password as normal, the 2-Step Verification page will load. You will then be prompted to enter a code from your chosen Authenticator App.
If you wish to change your 2-Step Method of logging in, select your preferred option from the right-hand side of this login screen. Only methods you have verified will be displayed.
Once you have entered the requested information you can remove this step for future login attempts on this browser (not recommended for shared or public devices) by ticking the I'm on a trusted browser option.
Click Login to continue. If entered correctly, you will now be taken to your MyFreeola Control Panel.
Removing Two-Step Authentication
If you no longer wish to have Two Factor Authentication on your MyFreeola account, or wish to remove one of your enabled second steps, you can easily remove these once logged in.
After logging into your MyFreeola Control Panel, select My Account Details then Contact & Login Details from the left-hand menu, then Change next to the 2-Step Verification row.
To remove a specific method of 2FA select the right arrow (>) next to that method, then Remove on the following page - you will be asked to confirm this action on a pop-up window.
To remove the 2-Step Verification completely, click the On/Off toggle at the top of the 2-Step Verification page. You will need to confirm this action within the provided pop-up window.
Please Note
Removing any 2FA information from your account will also remove any verified information for that method or device. If you wish to use 2FA again in future, you will be required to complete the verification steps - listed above - again.
Please Note
The following method will only affect access to your cPanel dashboard when logging in using the /cpanel link on your domain name, the Quick Login feature within MyFreeola will continue to work without asking for 2FA.
If you would like to further protect access to your SSD Hosting cPanel dashboard you can quickly and easily add Two-factor authentication to it through the use of an Authenticator App.
