SSL Certificates are required to allow your site to display securely via HTTPS. As this has become an essential part of website hosting in the modern era, our web hosting packages include a free SSL certificate with every subscription.
If you would like to learn about SSL Certificates you can do so on the SSL Certificate Guides page on our website
Each subscription to Freeola SSD, SSD WP and SSD Pro comes with an automatically installed free SSL Certificate - no further action is required to enable this.
As long as your subscription to this service continues, the SSL Certificate will be renewed.
If you have a domain name attached to a VIP+, VIP WP or VIP MySQL Hosting service, you can assign your free certificate from within the managing MyFreeola account.
Once logged into the MyFreeola account that manages your domain name select Websites & Hosting then Secure SSL Certificates from the left-hand menu.
The following page will list any existing SSL certificates within the account, with your available free certificates shown under the Free Certificates Available heading.
Click Set Up Now next to the domain name you wish to activate this service upon.
On the next page you will be shown your Web Site Folder Settings, from the available options select Set Up Free SSL.
You will now need to select your website address from the drop-down list under the Certificate Website Address heading. This is a required field and you cannot continue without selecting an option.
Once you have selected your website address, click Register Certificate.
On the following page you will be asked to double check and confirm the website address - it is not possible to change this information once the certificate registration is complete.
Click Confirm to finish the process.
Your certificate will now be registered and validated against your chosen website. This process can take up to 24 hours but usually completes in an hour or two.
You will receive email confirmation once your certificate is ready to use.
Once applied and verified against your website, visitors will now be able to view your website via HTTPS.
In order for all visitors to your site to see your content via HTTPS, you may need to make some small changes to your content, CMS or your MyFreeola account. We have provided a guide on these changes here.
