Setting up Freeola E-mail in Windows Mail

By Freeola Support on 23rd June, 2016 | 0 Comment(s)

This guide is designed to help with setting up a Freeola email address within Windows Mail. For more internet help topics please visit our main Support Page.

These instructions should be relevant to all current versions of Windows Mail. There may be slight visual/wording differences between versions but the underlying procedure is the same.

Before Continuing...

Please visit your MyFreeola account and make a note of the following information before continuing, you'll need to know this for later on in the guide:

1, What protocol your e-mail address is set up to use (IMAP or POP3).

2, What service is assigned to your e-mail address (EmailPro, Free Email or Email Freedom).

3, Your e-mail address password.

You can find this information by clicking Email Addresses in the left-hand navigation in MyFreeola, then My Email Addresses. You should then be able to click Settings & Features button next to the relevant e-mail address, your e-mail protocol and service information can be found here.

  1. Load Windows Mail.

  2. From the menu bar select 'Tools', then 'Accounts'. In the window that opens, select the 'Add' button.

  3. From the next window click 'E-mail Account'. Once it is highlighted blue, click 'Next'.

  4. Enter the name you want to appear on outgoing e-mails from you in the 'Display name' field. For example if your name is John Smith you may want to enter 'John Smith' or 'Mr J Smith' within this field. Then in the 'E-mail Address' field, enter the e-mail address that you want to add. Then click 'Next'.

  5. You now need to set the incoming e-mail server type using the drop-down menu. This will be IMAP or POP3:

Free Email & Email Freedom Users: Select POP3

EmailPro Users: Select the relevant protocol (IMAP or POP3) as found in your MyFreeola account.

  6. Enter the incoming mail server and outgoing e-mail server addresses:

    Incoming: yourdomainname.freeolamail.net
Note: Replace any dots (.) in your domain with a hyphen (-) e.g. yourdomain-co-uk.freeolamail.net

    Outgoing: smtp.freeolamail.net
Note: if you are using our Free Email service, you will only be able to send mail when connecting via a Freeola connection.

Check the 'Outgoing server requires authentication' box, then press 'Next'.

  7. In the 'Email Username' field you will need to enter the e-mail address you are setting up. In the 'Password' field enter the Freeola e-mail password you made a note of earlier - this information is case sensitive and will not work if entered incorrectly. Then press 'Next'.

  8. The final page of the setup wizard will simply ask if you wish to download your e-mail straight away or not. If you do not wish to begin using your Freeola e-mail address immediately simply tick the box that reads "Do not download my e-mail at this time". Once you are happy with your selection click 'Finish'.

  9. Your e-mail address is now set up in Windows Mail, ready to send and receive e-mail.

Using SSL with your email service...

If you are utilising an SSL connection for sending & receiving emails, please ensure you have selected the 'SSL' option for both incoming and outgoing servers. Please also set the following port numbers where applicable:

SSL (POP3): 995

SSL (IMAP): 993

SSL (SMTP): 465
