0845 Dial Up Internet: General Information
Welcome to the Freeola Internet customer support pages. This guide is designed to give general information on setting up a dial-up connection. For more internet help topics please visit our main Support Page.
Dial-up connection to Freeola is via an analogue Modem or digital ISDN terminal adaptor.
Our Dial-up Access Telephone Number is: 0845 123 2035.
Calls cost 2p per minute, plus your phone company's access charge.
Freeola supports pretty much all analogue modems up to 56K. Unfortunately we do not yet support the advanced V92 modem standard although V92 modems should still connect to Freeola without any problems.
You can use ISDN or BT Highway to connect digitally to Freeola. Our access equipment on our dial-up service number supports the vast majority of ISDN terminal adaptors and the standard connection speed is 64K which is also known as a Single Channel Connection.
Whether you're using an ISDN adaptor or an analogue modem you should be able to decrease the time it takes to connect to the Freeola service by disabling any unnecessary network protocols. This can be done on most Windows systems by right-clicking on your Freeola connection icon in the Dial-Up Network Connections area and selecting Properties. Click on the Servers tab and untick Log on to Network, NETBUI and IPX. You should only have Enable Software Compressionand TCP/IP ticked. Click OK.
