Creating a Standard Page

The InstantPro Website Builder allows you to create a number of different page types with a pre-defined format such as a Blog page, Contact page or dedicated Links page.

The Standard page type allows the user to begin creating their page without any template already in place, effectively it is like starting with a blank canvas and will allow the designer to use the features of the InstantPro text editor to design the page that is required.

To create your first Standard page you will need to be logged in to your MyFreeola account and have launched the InstantPro Website Builder from your account.

Should you need any further assistance, hovering over the symbol whenever you see it will provide you with further important information and help with building your website.

1. On launching the InstantPro Website Builder, the first screen you will see is the Site Overview screen. This page serves as a starting point for managing all the pages, skyscrapers, and themes.

2. To create a new Standard page you will first have to click the Create New Page button, which is shown under the Pages heading on the site overview screen.

When you create a new page, you will first be asked which type of page you wish to create.

Selecting the Standard page type will automatically direct you to the next step.

3. You will then be prompted to choose the page name and the title. The page name you choose will be how the page name is displayed on your site navigation, it will also make up the web address of the page.

For example, the page name I have chosen is 'Standard Page', this will translate in to a web address of: www.domainname.com/standard_page.html

The page title allows you to set what text appears in the title bar of the Internet Browser you are using. If you look to the top of the browser when viewing this page you will see 'InstantPro Website Builder - Creating a Standard Page'. This is the text specified as the page title for this webpage.

You will also notice on this there is an option to Show advanced settings, these settings deal with the Meta Tags and Meta Description you can add to your pages. Meta information is used by search engines, such as Yahoo, Ask and Google, to interpret what content is contained on the page. More information on adding this information to your site can be found in the Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) Tutorial.

Once the page name and title values have been specified, click the next step button.

4. You will next be able to choose a page layout template.

Choose Page Layout

In addition to the blank layout option, there are 9 pre-defined page layout templates, from which you are able to choose depending on what content you require on the page.

The highlighted blank layout page template allows you to begin designing your site with no pre-defined layout settings.

The other page templates available allow you to choose from a selection of pre-prepared page designs, which you can also edit as you wish. The coloured boxes shown on these other layouts are placeholders for images to be added to the page.

For this guide, select the Blank Layout.

5. You have now created your Standard page, and will be able to start designing your new page using the InstantPro Text Editor.
