Managing Page & File Names

When creating pages with InstantPro, you will be asked to enter a name for the page that you are creating. The name that you give here will be the resulting URL (web page address).

For example, by default if your page name is "Welcome to my website", then the address for that page will be "www.example.com/welcome-to-my-website.html"

Unless you're worried about search engine optimisation, then you don't really need to pay any attention to what the resulting web address is.

Again, by default, this will cause your menu button in the navigation to look rather elongated like this:

Welcome to my website menu button

In cases where you do not want to have the URL (example.html) the same as your navigation button, you can change this by taking the following steps:

1. Open the site builder via the MyFreeola Control Panel and go to the Site Overview page.

Site overview page

2. From here, select 'Page Manager'. This will give you a list of all of the pages on your website, providing easy access to editing each page and viewing other details.

4. In this box, you will be given the chance to change your Page Name. Here, my Page Name is set to 'Home', so my page will be called 'home.html' by default.

5. I want to keep the page as 'home.html' but change the button in my navigation to say 'Homepage'. To do this, I enter "Homepage" in the text box and make sure that the "Update Page URL (web address)" tickbox is unticked.

If I had ticked the box, then my page and the address of the web page would be renamed to 'homepage.html'.
