Apple iPhone or iPad Setup for Freeola Email

Welcome to the Freeola Internet customer support pages. This guide is designed to help with setting up your Freeola e-mail address on an iPhone or iPad. For more internet help topics please visit our main Support Page.

Please note

If you are using EmailPro, please see the EmailPro version of this guide as the settings and options vary slightly.

Here are brief instructions for setting up the iPhone or iPad, please be aware that different software versions may have slight differences in wording and layout however you should be able to work out what goes where.

  1. To configure Freeola e-mail addresses on the device you need to tap "Mail" from the home screen. If you have already created an account on your Apple device you will need to tap "Settings", "Mail, Contacts, Calenders" then "Add Account".

  2. From the options listed, select "Other", then "Add Mail Account".

  3. Enter your name, e-mail address, e-mail password and a description of the account in the relevant fields. Now tap "Next", your device should quickly check the information you entered is valid.

  4. Select POP across the top of the page. Under "Incoming Mail Server" you will need to set the host name as "mail.freeola.net". The "Username" and "Password" fields will need to be completed with the email address and password combination unique to your e-mail address.

Please Note: This information is case sensitive and will not work if entered incorrectly. If you do not have this information to hand it is readily available through the View/Edit E-mail Addresses link within the left-hand navigation section of your MyFreeola account.

  5. The "Outgoing Server" fields should be set to "smtp.freeola.net", leaving the username and password fields blank.

Please Note: This SMTP server will only work on Freeola Internet connections. If you have signed up for Freeola Email Freedom please scroll to the bottom of this page for instructions on the additional changes required for you to send e-mail. Alternatively, if you are using EmailPro, please see the EmailPro variation of this guide.

  6. Once this information has been entered, tap "Save", your iPhone or iPad will now attempt to verify this information. This verification will fail and is to be expected, once this has failed you will receive a message that reads along the lines of "Do you want to try setting up the account without SSL?" select "Yes" on this pop-up and tap "Save" to complete the setup process.

  7. You should now be able to send and receive e-mails on your Freeola e-mail address from your Apple iPhone or iPad.

Information for Email Freedom Customers

If have signed up for our Email Freedom service you will be required to enter
'smtp-auth.freeola.net' as your outgoing mail server. This server also requires your e-mail username and password entered within the relevant fields in order to function correctly.

Some internet providers also restrict the use of certain ports for sending messages. Because of this we would also advise changing the SMTP port from 25 to 2025 on this same page.
