Welcome to the Freeola Internet customer support pages. This guide is designed to help with setting up an email address within Evolution. For more internet help topics please visit our main Support Page.
Please Note
If you are using EmailPro these settings will vary slightly. To access your email settings, you will need to login to your MyFreeola account and select View/Edit Email Addresses from the left hand navigation.
Here are brief instructions for setting up the Evolution mail client to work with a Freeola e-mail address. These instructions should be relevant to all current versions of Evolution. There may be slight visual/wording differences between versions but the underlying procedure is the same.
Start the Evolution client.
In order to add a new account to the program you can do so by clicking Add from the horizontal navigation.
Next you will be prompted to enter some basic personal information. On the Welcome page click Forward to proceed to the Identity window. Type your full name in the Full Name field and your Freeola e-mail address in the E-mail Address field. The Default Account, Reply-To and Organisation fields are optional. Click Forward to continue.
Now you will need to configure the setting for Receiving Mail. Firstly, select POP from the Server Type list. Enter mail.freeola.net in the Server field, your email address in the Username field. Select No encryption under the Security sub-heading. Select Password as your authentication type in the Authentication list and enter your Freeola e-mail password. We also advise that you select the option for the program to Remember Password. Click Forward.
Please Note: This information is case sensitive and will not work if entered incorrectly. If you do not have this information to hand it is readily available through the View/Edit E-mail Addresses link within the left-hand navigation section of your MyFreeola account. You now need to specify some additional information for the POP server. Firstly, select if you want Evolution to automatically check for new mail and how frequently, next select if you want to leave messages on the server and for how long (Freeola recommends no longer than 30 days). Select Forward to continue.
On the next screen select SMTP from the Server Type list. Type smtp.freeola.net in the Server field and untick the Server Requires Authentication option. Continue by clicking Forward.
Please Note: This SMTP server will only work on Freeola Internet connections. If you have signed up for Freeola Email Freedom please click here for setting up your SMTP server details or, alternatively, scroll to the bottom of this page for instructions on the additional changes required. Now that you have finished the e-mail configuration process you need to give the account a name. The name can be any name you prefer although we would recommend using Freeola or your e-mail address for future identification. Type your chosen account name within the Name field, then click Forward.
Finally select your time zone on the map. Click OK, then Apply. Evolution will now open with your new account created and ready to use!
Information for Email Freedom Customers
If have signed up for our Email Freedom service you will be required to enter
'smtp-auth.freeola.net' as your outgoing mail server. This server also requires you to select My Server Requires Authentication in order to function correctly, you will also be required to select Use Same Settings As Incoming Server or re-enter your e-mail username and password were prompted.
Some internet providers also restrict the use of certain ports for sending messages. Because of this we would also advise entering the Advanced section of your e-mail account set-up and changing the SMTP port from 25 to 2025.
