Dial up settings & modem set up for Windows ME (Millenium Edition)
Here are full instructions for setting up a Dial-Up Networking (DUN) Connection on your Windows ME Machine and how to configure your modem settings.
1. Click Start / Settings / Dial-Up Networking.
2. Double click on the 'Make New Connection' icon to open the 'Connection Wizard'. Now enter the name 'Freeola' where it says 'Type a name for the
computer you are dialling'. Make sure your modem or ISDN adaptor is selected where it says 'Select a device'. Click 'Next' to continue.
3. Enter the Freeola dial-up internet number 0845 604 3080 or 0845 604 3070 (use the number that works best for you) and make sure that the
Country region is set to 'United Kingdom (44)'. Click 'Next'.If you are using Freeola Anytime then please use the number 0808 993 3413.
4. Click 'Finish'.
5. Click Start / Settings / Dial-Up Networking and double-click on your 'Freeola' icon to open the connection.
6. In the 'Username' field, enter your Freeola User Name and in the 'Password' field enter your Freeola
Password. Tick 'Save Password'. If you haven't signed up to Freeola yet, just use the Username of
'freeola' and Password of 'freeola' for immediate free and fast web access. Please note that the freeola/freeola combination only supports web
browsing - it does not allow you to send or receive e-mail and some other services may be disabled.
7. Click 'Connect'. At this point your computer will start to dial. Leave the computer to fully connect and then load your web browser to check
whether things are working. Once you have conducted this test, disconnect by double-clicking the modem symbol on the bottom right hand corner of
your screen.
8. To make a Desktop shortcut to your Freeola Dial up Connection, right click on the 'Freeola' icon in your Dial up Networking folder and choose
'Send To' then 'Desktop (create shortcut)'.
