Dial-Up Settings for Windows 2000

Welcome to the Freeola Internet customer support pages. This guide is designed to help with setting up a dial-up connection on Windows 2000. For more internet help topics please visit our main Support Page.

Here are full instructions for setting up a Dial-Up Connection on your Windows 2000 based computer and how to configure your modem settings.

1. Click on Start, Settings then Control Panel. Double click on 'Network and Dial-Up Connections'.

2. Double click on the 'Make New Connection' which starts the 'Connection Wizard'. Click 'Next' to continue.

3. Choose 'Dial-up to the Internet' and click 'Next' to continue.

4. Choose 'I want to set up my Internet connection manually' and click 'Next' to continue.

5. Choose 'I connect through a phone line and a modem' and click 'Next' to continue.

6. The next page will ask for your dial up internet settings. Enter the Area Code 0845 and Telephone number 604 3070 or 604 3080 (use whichever number works best for your modem). In the Country Code/Region field choose 'United Kingdom(44)' Tick 'Use area code and dialing rules' and click 'Next' to continue.

If you are using Freeola Anytime then please use the number 0808 993 3413.

7. In the 'Username' box, enter your Dial-Up User Name. Your dial-up user name takes the form of: 'sr0123456' (sr0123456@freeolaanytime.net for Anytime customers), in the 'Password' box, enter the Dial-Up Password assigned to you when you created the connection. If you are unable to find either of these you can access this information by selecting 'Dial-up Connection Settings' from within your MyFreeola Control Panel.

8. In the Connection Name field enter 'Freeola' and click 'Next' to continue.

9. Tick 'Connect to the Internet immediately' and click 'Finish' to continue.

10. The Dial-Up Connection Box should now appear. Click 'Connect'. At this point your computer will start to dial. Leave the computer to fully connect and then load your web browser to check whether things are working. Once you have conducted this test, disconnect by double-clicking the modem symbol on the bottom right hand corner of your screen.

11. To make a Desktop shortcut to your Freeola Dial up Connection, right click on the 'Freeola' icon in your Dial up Networking folder and choose 'Send To' then 'Desktop (create shortcut)'.
