Welcome to the Freeola internet customer support pages. This guide is designed to help with setting up your Freeola Broadband on Windows XP. For more internet help topics please visit our main Support Page
The instructions on this page will only be relevant after your line has been activated for broadband. They assume you have installed your hardware in accordance with the instructions supplied and that you have installed a broadband microfilter in each live telephone socket.
IF YOU ARE USING A BROADBAND MODEM:
If you are using a broadband modem, it is more than likely that it will have it's own set-up manual included. If this is the case then you will need to follow the modems manual step-by-step on how to set up your connection. If you are using a BT Voyager 105 supplied by Freeola this will come with an installation disc that will need to be installed before the hardware is connected to your computer.
You will have to enter your Freeola Broadband username and password which should have been provided when you sign up. The username will take the form of 'sr0123456@adsl.enta.net' this is shown on the activation information sheet we sent with your direct debit forms, and will also have been sent to you via e-mail in the time before your activation. If you are unable to find either of these you can access this information by selecting 'Broadband Details and Usage' from within your MyFreeola Control Panel.
Generally most modems are pre-configured to work with any standard broadband connection, your username and password should be the only information you need to alter. Usually your modem installation will create an icon (or icons) on your computers desktop. These icons will allow you to access the modem settings and access the connection login settings.
Once you have succesfully entered your Freeola Broadband username and password combination you will need to connect using the modem software. Once the modem has connected you are free to surf the internet by opening your web browser.
IF YOU ARE USING A BROADBAND ROUTER:
ADSL routers allow you to share your broadband connection between one or more computers or other internet capable devices. As the process is literally different for every single set-up, detailed instructions are beyond the remit of this simple guide but here are some pointers.
If you purchased your router from Freeola at the time of ordering broadband, you should find specific instructions on how to configure the router for Freeola supplied with the router.
To connect to the router you will need to type an IP address into your browser's address bar. This address is typically http://192.168.1.1 but can differ depending on the router manufacturer and model, your router manual will be able to give you further information on this. You will then need to enter a username and password, again if they have been left to default they will be noted in the manual.
You will need to make sure these settings are entered into the correct location, most other settings can be left as default:
• VPI: 0
• VCI: 38
• Encapsulation: PPPoA
• Modulation:VC-MUX
• MTU: 1500
Once these settings are correct then submit, save and reboot. The router should now reset and log on to the internet allowing you to browse at your leisure.
