General ADSL Router Support & Setup

Welcome to the Freeola internet customer support pages. This guide is designed to help with setting up your router to work with Freeola Broadband. For more internet help topics please visit our main Support Page

Unlike most ADSL modems, ADSL routers are designed to run via an Ethernet (or Network) cable and require no installation CD. Therefore all setting changes need to be made within the internal software of the router.

This can be accessed by typing in the IP Address of your router into an Internet Explorer address bar. This address is typically http://192.168.1.1 but can differ depending on the router manufacturer and model, your router manual will be able to give you further information on this. Alternitavely you can follow one of the helpful guides listed below for a step-by-step guide.

Below are some ADSL router setup instructions for routers sold currently and previously by Freeola:

Safecom & Guru Router Setup

Philips / SMC SNA6500 Router Setup

Zyxel P-660HW Router Setup

Hitachi 2-Port VOIP Router Setup

D-Link Router Setup

BT Voyager 190 Router Setup

Netgear DG834PN Router Setup

(More guides to follow)

Due to the vast amount of routers available it is impossible for us to list guides for all of them here, however if your router is not listed above, here are some generic settings we use that you will need to set it up for Freeola Broadband.

• Your Freeola Username and Password
• VPI: 0
• VCI: 38
• Encapsulation: PPPoA
• Modulation: VC-MUX
• MTU: 1500

All other settings should remain at the default setting of your router. Altering anything else could have a detrimental effect on the performance of your connection.

No-Nat compatible Routers (Tested by Freeola Support)

One of the advantages of Freeola Broadband is the ability to utilise 8 Static IP addresses, more advanced users will be able to use these to create an internal network. The following router makes and models have been tested by Freeola Support technicians as being compatible with this advanced technique.

• Safecom/Pluscom 54125/4112/4115/54108
• D-Link 624/504
• Zyxel 660
• Speedtouch 780
• Philips CKA5720

Please be aware that this is not a complete list and other routers may be able to create a No-NAT network.
