Dial Up Settings for Windows 7

Welcome to the Freeola Internet customer support pages. This guide is designed to help with setting up a dial-up connection on Windows 7. For more internet help topics please visit our main Support Page.

 

Please follow the instructions below for help setting up Windows 7 to connect to Freeola using a Dial-Up Internet Connection.

 

  1. Bring up the Start Menu and select Control Panel from the right-hand side.

  2. From the Control Panel you will need to select the Network and Internet category.

  3. You will then need to select Network and Sharing Center.

  4. Now select Set up a new connection or network.

  5. When prompted to Choose a connection option, you will need to select the option to Set up a dial-up connection and press Next.

  6. You will then be asked to Type the information from your Internet service provider (ISP). The settings required can be found be on the Dial-up Connection Settings page within your MyFreeola account, the User name and Password will vary depending on account however the Dial-up telephone numbers are as follows.

    Standard Freeola Dial-up
    If you are using the standard dial-up service, the Dial-up telephone number can be set to either 0845 604 3070 or 0845 604 3080. The User name for this service is a number prefixed with 'sr', for example sr0123456.

    Freeola Anytime Dial-up
    Alternatively, if you have the Freeola Anytime Dial-up service you will need to set the Dial-up telephone number to 0808 993 3413. The User name will be in a format similar to an email address, for example sr0123456@freeolaanytime.net.

    If you are unsure of your dial-up connection settings, these details can be obtained by logging in to your MyFreeola account and selecting Dial-up Connection Settings from the left hand navigation.

    In order for Windows to save your password so that it does not need to be entered each time, you should tick the box labelled Remember this password.

    The Connection name refers to the name that your dial-up connection will be listed as on your computer and should be set to a name unique to this connection, for example Freeola Anytime or Freeola Dial-up.

    If you have multiple accounts on your computer and would like other users to be able to access this connection, you may wish to tick the Allow other people to user this connection option to make this connection available to all users of this computer.

  7. If you then press connect, your computer will attempt to dial a connection to the Internet.

  8. You should now be taken to a screen advising that You are connected to the Internet. If this shows, congratulations, your connection is now ready for use.

Using your Dial-up Connection on Windows 7

 

Once the dial-up connection is configured on Windows 7, please follow the instructions below for help connecting to, or disconnect from, the Internet. If you have not already configured Windows 7 for Freeola Dial-up, please follow the instructions above.

 

Connecting using Freeola Dial-up


In order to connect to Freeola Dial-up, you will first need to click the network icon (Win7 Systray Icon) in the system tray at the bottom right of the screen. You will then need to select the Freeola connection from the list and press Connect.

A window should now appear displaying the dial-up settings for this connection. If you press Dial, your computer will attempt to dial a connection to the Internet.

Disconnecting Freeola Dial-up


To disconnect from the Dial-up service, you will need to click the network icon (Win7 Systray Icon) in the system tray at the bottom right of your screen. You will then need to select the Freeola connection from the list which is shown as connected and press Disconnect. You computer should then disconnect from the Internet.
