Welcome to the Freeola Internet customer support pages. This is an article to help you create on the fly images to be put on your websites, whether hosted with us or an InstantPro site. For more internet help topics please visit our main Support Page.
We have created a Static Google Map Creator to make these steps even easier for you. The first step is to go to the static map generator. You can search for a location using the search field on the right had side, type in a location such as "10 Downing Street, London, UK" and click search. The main map window will then move and also the static image below will refresh to reflect the new location.
To select a location you can also drag the map around, the red placemark will move to the centre of the map automatically. You can also drag and drop the placemark to the location you want to move to the center of the map.
Each time you move the location one way or another the "Static image URL" and "Static image HTML" will change to reflect the new location and the static image should also refresh.
The static image options on the right hand side below the location search allow you to change the dimensions of the image created and set your own API key. You will need to go to Google Maps API website in order to request one. It is advisable that you do get your own API key since if you do not your usage of the service will be limited by the usage of our own API key. Also note that the dimensions have a maximum of 650 by 650 px. Click "Update" to put your changes into effect.
Getting your Google Map online
Now to include your static Google Map on a standard web page you need to click and copy the "Static image HTML" box content and paste it into your website editor (within the code view) somewhere between your HTML pages <body> tags. Save and re upload to see your image!
InstantPro Websites
Go to the InstantPro page on your MyFreeola control panel, click "Edit this Site" next to the InstantPro site you wish to edit and launch the InstantPro Website Builder. Go to "Page Manager" within InstantPro and then click the edit icon next to the page you wish to add the map to.
Once on the page editor click a location in the editor where you wish to place the image, click "Image" on the toolbar, copy and paste the "Static image URL" into the "Image URL" field and click "Insert".
