| Is your computer as secure as you think it is?
A new survey suggests that internet users are less secure than they think. It reveals that whilst more than 90% of us believe we are running an up-to-date antivirus program, in fact only 52% of us are. New home computers with a pre-installed trial period of antivirus protection are being blamed for the discrepancy, with many forgetting to update expired software.
In addition, it emerged that many respondents who believed they were using a firewall or anti-spyware program had failed to enable these features.
So even if you are protected by antivirus, you might not be secure. In all, just one in four had antivirus that had been updated within the last week, anti-spyware and a firewall enabled. This disturbing information is combined with the fact that the majority of us use our computers and the internet for banking, socialising, sending personal emails and storing an assortment of personal and financial information.
Freeola recommends Eset NOD32 Antivirus. NOD32 is effective at detecting viruses without slowing down your computer's performance, and once installed it updates itself with minimal fuss and you don't have to remember to keep it up to date. What's more NOD32 doesn't rely on downloading virus definitions in order to detect threats.
